So, Michelle Jorden happened to mention a new wireless standard that is "up-and-coming" that she was reading about in PC World. Apparently, the standard should allow for connections up to 31 miles from the access point. It would be used to "wire" the "last mile". Seems pretty cool if you ask me. WiMax Corporation is the standards body that has surfaced to push the standard the same way that the Wi-Fi group did for the 802.11 standard.
