So,... after a bit of research on SSL Certificates, I was about to give up and decide that it was simply a fact of life that I was going to have to pay an exorbitant amount of money to obtain and install a SSL certificate. Then I found the StartCom Free SSL Certificate Project. Free? Not $250. Not $100. Free? I must be missing something. Right?
