Vonage sent me an email on Sunday... Looks like my number will FINALLY be transferring today. While I understand that it is a process where-by multiple companies must go through the process of communicating with each other... and that the company that has my number right now... I'm sure doesn't want to give it up... There is NO excuse for it taking this long. It has been 48 BUSINESS DAYS since I initially requested my number transfer. For those that don't want to break out a calendar, I'll save you the trouble... that's 74 days... more than 10 and a half weeks! When Vonage said it would take at least 20 business days... I figured... oh... 25 business days. NO. 48!. WTF?! While I have been largely happy with the service that I have received from Vonage in the interim (one dropped call and two that throughout the course of the call went from digitally-damaged to intelligible)... I'm not convinced that I can recommend them just yet to anybody that wants to keep their phone number. I guess we'll see if they do anything to make up for the errors of their ways. 74 days... is there another service out there that takes longer than this that we would find acceptable in the 21st century? I can't think of one.
