News coverage sucks in the United States. Sure, it's better than it was 50 years ago. But, truthfully, can you say that the news coverage of the London bombings today was really "good"? As the newscasters droned on and on about 7 bombings... then 4... then hundreds potentially dead... they never brought in photos of a typical double-decker bus... or layouts of the train stations that were effected. Repeated scrolling text talked about the front of the double-decker bus being blown apart. The front was the only part left in-tact! *sigh* Additionally... MS-NBC kept calling it a "travel ban" ... Londoners aren't "banned" from traveling. They *are* advising against it... but mostly just because the amount of "travel space" has been cut so drastically. Hours of television... filled with empty words. Protracted discussions of whether Blair could possibly return to the G8 meeting. Why wouldn't he be able to? What's he going to do in London? Dig through rubble? Though... I can't blame the newscasters completely. They don't do much of their own work these days.... it's the writers and their support people are the ones that should be criticized. *ugh*
